Labyrinth/Lemon Squeeze

Labyrinth/Lemon Squeeze

If you've ever met me, you'd know that the great outdoors doesn't really scream Hortencia. Although I do appreciate the occasional hike and adventure. I've been to Mohonk twice so far and I love it every time.

Mohonk is located in New Paltz, New York which is roughly about a 2 1/2 hour drive from Manhattan depending on traffic. The particular hike I did is called

Labyrinth/Lemon Squeeze which is super fitting because it's exactly that, a complicated irregular network of passages or paths in which it is difficult to find one's way; a maze. For those who are claustrophobic I'd advise you not to do this hike, it has small passage ways you have to sorta of nook in, in order to come out on the other side. This 4.5-5.5 mile hike is not as scary as it sounds, so don't knock it until you try it. There are red arrows painted on the rocks to guide you throughout the whole thing.

Plan to be hands free, if you bring a camera, bring a backpack. You'll need your hands to grab onto rocks and to control balance. Per hiker fees: $21 weekday / $26 weekend. $1 more in October. Pay at gatehouse at the hiker parking lot; opens 7am and sold until 4pm. No pets allowed. Now you're probably shocked at the price for this hike, but it was totally worth it I think, it was such a fun experience! The views were incredible and gratifying after enduring till the end.

I made sure to bring a hoodie as it was chilly before my heart started pumping from the rocks I was climbing. I'm off a lot of days in October, so I'll be planning my next hiking trip soon!
